About Bernard Trottier, MP Etobicoke-Lakeshore

Bernard Trottier is the Conservative Member of Parliament representing Etobicoke—Lakeshore in the Parliament of Canada having been elected in the federal election held on May 2, 2011.

Mr. Trottier is a past President of the Etobicoke—Lakeshore Conservative Association and a veteran of many political campaigns. After working many years in the private sector this is his first time seeking elected office.

Before seeking to represent the electoral district of Etobicoke-Lakeshore, Mr. Trottier was a senior consulting manager with IBM Global Business Services, working with Canadian and international companies to improve their competitiveness and profitability. In the last twenty years he has worked on extended assignments with companies in the retail, consumer products, transportation, mining, steel, pulp and paper, aerospace, telecommunications and information technology sectors. His assignments are a collaboration with clients to help them answer two questions: where to compete, and how to compete? Mr. Trottier has developed a strong appreciation for the challenges the Canadian economy faces in an increasingly global business environment. Through their success locally and on the world stage, Canadian businesses can provide high-paying jobs and provide the tax base allowing Canada to grow and prosper.

Mr. Trottier is a graduate of the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario (MBA, 1992), as well as the University of Alberta (B.Sc.Eng., 1988). In addition, Mr. Trottier studied at l’École des Hautes Études Commerciales (France), l’Université de Montréal/École Polytechnique de Montréal and the University of Ottawa. Mr. Trottier speaks French and English fluently.

Mr. Trottier lives in Etobicoke with his wife Susan Schutta and their children Alexandre and Zoë. He is a past President and Board Member of the Sunnylea Co-operative Nursery School, and has been a volunteer coach in the Royal York Baseball League and the Islington Rangers Soccer League.
